Things to Know Before You Book

We want your stay at Kootenai River Campground to be relaxing and enjoyable from the moment you arrive. Please take a few minutes to review the information below before completing your reservation. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to call or email us — we're happy to help!

Check-In & Check-Out Times

RV and Tent Sites: Check-in between 2:00 PM and 9:00 PM (Mountain Time)
Cabins and Cottages: Check-in between 3:00 PM and 9:00 PM (Mountain Time)
Check-out: 11:00 AM for all site types

If you're traveling from out of state, please remember that Montana is in the Mountain Time Zone. We are unable to accommodate check-ins after 9:00 PM. If you don't think you'll make it by then, we recommend booking your arrival for the following day.
Please note: Our booking software does not support same-day reservations. If you'd like to stay tonight, give us a call and we'll check availability for you.

The Lock Site Feature — What You Need to Know

When you book through Campspot, our reservation system automatically optimizes site assignments to maximize availability. This means there's a chance your specific site could be reassigned to another site of the same type before your arrival.
Here's the important part: the system will never change your site type. If you reserve a 50-amp full hookup site, you'll always get a 50-amp full hookup site — you're guaranteed that.
However, if you have your heart set on a particular site — maybe it's your favorite spot from a previous visit — you can lock it in for a one-time, non-refundable fee of $20. This guarantees you that exact site. It's completely optional, and most guests are very happy with wherever they land!

Cancellation Policy

Your credit card will be charged the full amount at the time of booking.

Cancellations made 14 or more days in advance (excluding holiday and event weekends) are subject to a 10% cancellation fee plus $3.00.
Holiday and event weekend reservations may have different cancellation terms.
We do not offer refunds for early departures or weather-related discomforts — camping is an outdoor experience and we hope you embrace it!

To cancel or modify your reservation, please give us a call directly.

Occupancy & Vehicles

When making your reservation, please make sure to select the correct number of guests and pets in your party.

RV sites: One RV and one tow vehicle per site
Cottages and tent sites: One vehicle per site
Big Sky Villa: Up to two vehicles
Group tent site: Up to three vehicles
Additional vehicles and visitors may be asked to park near the office

Campground Rules

We've put these guidelines in place to make sure everyone has a safe and enjoyable stay.

General:

Quiet hours are 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM
The playground closes at dark
Tents are not permitted on RV sites (Site #8 is the exception)
Generators are not permitted unless there is a park-wide power outage
Please do not park on the grass
Mats and rugs should be placed on gravel, not grass
Vehicles may not be washed within the park
Vehicle or RV repairs are not permitted without prior approval

Pet Policy:

Pets must be on a leash or inside your RV at all times
Pets may not be left unattended in the park
Please clean up after your pet immediately
Pets are not permitted in flower beds or any campground buildings

We reserve the right to ask anyone who disregards these guidelines to leave without a refund. All guests and their visitors use the campground at their own risk.
